Redirect & mod_rewrite related Problems

Get tools !

These tools help any problem that requires examination of HTTP headers:

• Password related problems
• bad request, bad headers
• Charset problems
• ....

• Firefox + LiveHTTPHeader

Get Firefox and install LiveHTTPHeaders extension.

Then, click "Tool" menu and "Live HTTP Headers" to start it.

Access the URL you are having problem, and check the screen of LiveHTTPHeaders.

You are looking at HTTP request headers and response headers.

In case of trouble with "Redirect", "RedirectMatch" directive in .htaccess, you are looking for the response header with 301 or 302 code.

Then, a few lines bellow, check if correct URL is displayed in the "Location" line.

If not, your "Redirect" directive may have error(s).

• Domain Manager (only for PowWeb)

DomainManager is a tool for setting up sub/pointed domains.

It comes with some diagnostic tool.

After installing, click "Manually enter URLs for checking", and enter the URL you are having problem.

By pushing the button, it will access the URL and disply the headers just like LiveHTTPHeaders and aslo the page data.
